Realistic Expectations

The 'Bumps' are Normal

The most distinctive feature of a Skin Booster treatment is the immediate aftermath.

The Appearance: You will leave the clinic with visible bumps at the injection sites. This looks like a series of bee stings or mosquito bites. This is not a reaction; it is the product sitting in the correct layer of the skin.

The Timeline:

Hours 0-24: The bumps will be visible.

Hours 24-48: The product disperses and the skin flattens.

Weeks 1-4: The product integrates, attracting water and stimulating collagen.

Week 4: You return for your second treatment to maximise the result.

Subtlety: This treatment improves skin quality (snap, hydration, texture). It will not remove deep folds or lift sagging jowls. It is a polishing treatment, not a structural one.

Immediate Side Effects

Injection Bumps: As mentioned, these are guaranteed. Do not massage them. Let them spread naturally.

Bruising: Because multiple injection points are used, the risk of small bruises is higher than with some other treatments. These usually resolve within 5-7 days.

Tenderness: The skin may feel tight or tender for the first 24 hours.

Adverse Reactions

While Skin Boosters are very safe because they use pure Hyaluronic Acid (a substance found naturally in the body), risks exist.

Infection: Multiple injection points mean multiple entry routes for bacteria. It is vital you keep your skin clean and do not touch it.

Vascular Occlusion: Extremely rare with this depth of injection, but possible. If you experience severe pain or skin blanching (turning white) at home, contact me immediately.

Nodules: Very rarely, a hard lump may form that does not disperse after 48 hours. This may require massage or further treatment.

The Aftercare Rulebook

To ensure the product settles correctly and to prevent infection, you must adhere to the following for 24 Hours:

  1. Do NOT apply makeup or skincare products (other than what I apply).

  2. Do NOT rub or massage the bumps.

  3. Do NOT wash your face with hot water.

  4. Do NOT exercise vigorously (sweating can cause infection).

  5. Do NOT use saunas or steam rooms.
