Title: Clinical Protocol: PRP with Microneedling
Strapline: Detailed safety data, procedure steps and aftercare instructions.
Body Copy:
At Aesthetics at 51, transparency is a core pillar of my practice. I believe that every client should have full access to the clinical details of their treatment before booking. This document outlines the specific protocol, risks and recovery timeline for the combination of Microneedling and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).
The Procedure Protocol
The appointment follows a strict clinical order to ensure sterility and safety:
Preparation: A topical numbing cream is applied to the face for approximately 20–30 minutes to ensure comfort.
Blood Draw: While you are numbing, I will draw approximately 10ml–20ml of blood from your arm.
Centrifugation: The blood is spun in a medical-grade centrifuge to separate the plasma.
The Treatment: The numbing cream is removed and the skin is sterilised. I then apply your plasma to the skin as a "glide medium". As the microneedling device moves over the skin creating micro-channels, the plasma is physically pushed deep into the dermis.
Post-Treatment: Any remaining plasma is applied to the skin as a mask to soothe inflammation and accelerate healing.
Sensation & Comfort
Pain Level: Mild to Moderate.
Anesthetic: Yes. Prescription-strength topical anaesthetic is used.
Sensation: You will feel the vibration of the device and a "scratchy" sensation on bony areas (forehead, cheekbones). The application of the plasma typically feels cool and soothing.
Downtime & Recovery
This is a regenerative treatment that triggers an inflammatory response, so visible downtime is expected.
Immediate: You will look as though you have moderate-to-severe sunburn. The skin will feel tight, warm and sensitive to touch.
24–48 Hours: The redness typically subsides to a pink flush. You may experience dryness or tight skin.
Days 3–5: You may experience mild flaking or peeling as the skin regenerates. This is normal and should not be picked.
Risks & Side Effects
Erythema (Redness): Guaranteed. This is a clinical endpoint of the treatment, not a side effect.
Pinpoint Bleeding: Normal during the procedure but stops before you leave the clinic.
Bruising: Rare, but possible if the needle depth is adjusted for deep scars.
Cold Sore Flare-up: Microneedling can trigger the Herpes Simplex virus. If you suffer from cold sores, prophylactic medication may be recommended.
Contraindications (Who cannot have this treatment)
I cannot perform this treatment if you have:
Active acne, rosacea or skin infection.
History of keloid scarring.
Scleroderma or collagen vascular diseases.
Anticoagulation therapy (blood thinners).
Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Aftercare Instructions
To ensure the best results and prevent infection:
Hygiene: Do not touch your face for at least 4 hours. Use a clean pillowcase tonight.
No Makeup: Avoid all makeup for 24 hours. Mineral makeup can be used after this period.
Sun Protection: You must apply a high broad-spectrum SPF daily. Your skin will be highly photosensitive for 2 weeks.
Active Ingredients: Avoid Retinol, Vitamin C, AHAs and BHAs for 5 days post-treatment. Stick to a simple, hydrating cleanser and moisturiser.
Heat: Avoid heavy sweating (gym/sauna) for 48 hours.
Vital Singular Next Action
Shall I now generate the final Clinical Protocol for Targeted PRP Mesotherapy?
(This needs to cover the specific risks for eyes, such as bruising, and the "papules" on the hands/neck).
