Clinical Protocol: PRP+ Hair Regrowth
Pre-Treatment Safety, Expectations & Aftercare.
Realistic Expectations
A Biological Investment
PRP+ works by using your own blood plasma to stimulate hair follicles and support hair density. Because we are working with your body’s natural biological response, changes happen gradually. This is an ongoing process rather than a quick fix.
The Progress Timeline
Hair growth takes time, so it is important to judge your progress over months rather than days or weeks.
Treatments 1 & 2: Setting the foundation. The PRP and home care routine are getting underway, but you should expect little to no visible change at this early stage.
Treatment 3: The starting milestone. Cellular activity is supported, and your scalp environment is improving.
Months 4 to 6: Initial changes. Fine regrowth or early density changes typically begin to show around this window.
Months 6 to 8: Noticeable change. Peak improvements in hair density and coverage are usually seen here with consistent clinic and home care.
The Total Baldness Rule
PRP+ requires active, living hair follicles to work. It will strengthen and thicken areas where hair is thinning, but it cannot regrow hair across completely bald areas where follicles are no longer present.
Immediate Side Effects
Tenderness and Discomfort: Your scalp will feel tender immediately after your appointment. PRP involves multiple small injections across the treatment area, and it is normal for the scalp to feel tight, sore, or bruised for 24 to 48 hours.
Swelling and Redness: Mild redness, heat, and slight swelling across the injected area are completely normal responses to the treatment. This usually settles within a day or two.
Pinpoint Bleeding: Because the scalp is vascular, tiny spots of bleeding at the injection sites are expected during treatment and stop before you leave my clinic.
Adverse Reactions & Contraindications
Medical Contraindications: Because PRP relies on your blood plasma, this treatment is not suitable if you have underlying blood disorders, severe anaemia, active scalp infections, or if you are taking blood-thinning medications. We will cover your full medical history during your consultation.
Bruising: Small bruises may form around individual injection points. These are temporary and will fade naturally over a few days.
Inflammation: A mild inflammatory response is expected—this is actually what helps kickstart your hair growth factors. However, if you experience increasing heat, severe swelling, or spreading redness, you must contact me immediately.
The Aftercare Rulebook
To protect your scalp and give your PRP treatment the best opportunity to work, you must follow these rules for 24 Hours following your clinic appointment:
Do NOT wash your hair or scalp for at least 24 hours to allow the PRP to absorb fully.
Do NOT touch, rub, or scratch your scalp while it is healing.
Do NOT apply any hair styling products, dry shampoo, or topical formulas for 24 hours.
Do NOT take anti-inflammatory medication (such as Ibuprofen) for 48 hours, as we need the natural inflammatory response to stimulate recovery.
Do NOT engage in vigorous exercise, hot baths, saunas, or steam rooms until the scalp has completely settled.
Do NOT drink alcohol for 24 hours post-treatment.
Your Home Support Routine
Topical Support: Wait a full 24 hours after your in-clinic PRP treatment before resuming your daily topical formula.
Weekly Microneedling: Wait 48 hours post-treatment before using your handheld derma roller. Always ensure your derma roller is cleaned before and after every use following the instructions on my online PRP+ support page.
