Realistic Expectations
The Slow Lift
HIFU is a structural treatment, not a surface one.
The Timeline: Do not expect to look 10 years younger overnight.
Immediate: You may feel tighter, but this is often mild swelling/contraction.
Month 1: The healing process has begun.
Month 3: Peak result. The contours of the face look sharper and firmer.
The Feeling: This treatment works on the muscle layer. It is normal for your jawline or cheeks to feel "bruised" or tender to the touch for a few days, even if no bruise is visible. This is a sign the energy reached the correct depth.
Immediate Side Effects
Redness: Your skin may be red (flushed) for 30-60 minutes after treatment due to the thermal energy.
Swelling: Mild swelling along the jawline is common and usually resolves within 48 hours.
Tingling: You may feel a temporary tingling sensation in the treated area.
Adverse Reactions
Nerve Sensitivity: In rare cases, if a nerve is irritated by the heat, you may experience temporary numbness or weakness in a specific facial muscle. This is transient and resolves naturally, but you must inform me if you feel any "electric shocks" during treatment.
Fat Loss: If HIFU is performed incorrectly on hollow areas (like cheeks), it can break down fat. I am highly trained to target only the areas that require tightening (like the jawline) and avoid areas that need volume.
Burns: Extremely rare with the Mini HIFU device, but surface burns can occur if the handpiece is not maintained in contact with the skin.
The Aftercare Rulebook
To ensure the heat remains effective:
Do NOT use ice packs or cold compresses. We want the heat to remain in the tissue to stimulate collagen. Cooling the skin counteracts the treatment.
Do NOT use anti-inflammatory medication (Ibuprofen) for 48 hours, as we want the inflammation to trigger repair.
Do NOT use exfoliating acids for 48 hours (the skin may be sensitive).
You CAN apply makeup immediately.
SPF 50 IS MANDATORY.
