Realistic Expectations

The 72-Hour Sensation

The defining feature of this treatment is the sensation after you leave the clinic.

The Prickle: Because the microscopic spicules remain in your skin to stimulate repair, your face will feel "prickly" to the touch for 24-48 hours. Every time you touch your face or apply product, you will feel a sharp sensation. This is normal. It will fade as the spicules naturally expel.

The Shed: You are accelerating the skin's renewal cycle from 28 days to 7 days. This means the old skin must come off.

Day 1-2: Redness, tight skin, prickly sensation.

Day 3-5: Peeling begins. This usually starts around the mouth and nose.

Day 7: Fresh, renewed skin is revealed.

Immediate Side Effects

Redness and Heat: Your skin will look and feel like you have moderate sunburn immediately after the treatment. This heat typically lasts for several hours.

Dryness: As the old skin prepares to shed, it will feel extremely tight and dry.

Purging: If treating acne, you may see a temporary increase in spots as deep congestion is pushed to the surface.

Adverse Reactions

While natural, this is a potent resurfacing treatment.

Hyper-Pigmentation: If you pick, pull, or scrub the peeling skin, you risk scarring and dark marks. You must let the skin fall off naturally.

Sensitivity: If you apply active skincare (Retinol/Acids) too soon, you will cause a chemical burn. The new skin is baby-fresh and has no protection.

The Aftercare Rulebook

To ensure safe healing and prevent scarring:

  1. Do NOT touch your face unnecessarily (it will sting).

  2. Do NOT wash your face for the rest of the day (keep the spicules in).

  3. Do NOT pick or pull any peeling skin. Use small scissors to trim loose flakes if necessary.

  4. Do NOT use makeup for 24-48 hours.

  5. Do NOT use Retinol or Acids for 7 days.

  6. SPF 50 IS MANDATORY. Your fresh skin is extremely vulnerable to UV damage.
